SAN conducted Research to explore connections between child domestic work and child marriage (causes, experiences and outcomes) for girls to inform effective policy and practice responses for eliminating slavery, forced labour and other forms of exploitation and abuse among this group. The issues of both child domestic work (CDW) and child marriage (CM) have received some attention in recent years, but tend to be viewed as categories in isolation and not as interconnected causes and consequences of gendered norms which can limit girls’ future options and make them vulnerable to slavery and slavery-like practices.
