Freedom from Deprivation

Deprivation means depriving from fundamental needs of an individual increase vulnerability towards victimization of several rights violations and abuses and even threat to life. Thus right to education and right to health must be guaranteed by the state authorities. Deprivation means deprived of equal opportunity to access health facilities, blanket health insurance; no definition of basic health; doctor regime in health system are threats to the realization of equal health opportunities.Weak Governance and inadequate accountability efforts by citizens in health and education has violated the right of education and health. The main causes of deprivation are Honor Society, Protectionist Approach, Absence of Rationale and Human Rights Based Interventions, Denial of Independent Individual Status as a person.

  • Human Rights Based Assessment and Advocacy of Policies and Practices: Through Policy Review and Consultation, people led advocacy.
  • Educating and Empowering Victims and Vulnerable: Educating policy provisions, promoting organized local actions.
  • Public Monitoring Actions- Use of Social Accountability Tools.
  • Strengthen the State policies and System to respond health and education and Maximize the equal opportunities for all.

Swatantrata Abhiyan Nepal works through various interventions for Equity Based health Financing and Right to Free Basic Health facilities as Fundamental Rights.

We call for: Equity based Health Insurance Policy; Definition of Basic health and list of disease that can be treated free of cost by person; Public Accountability of Health Personnel and Health Institution

Right to Education

Swatantrata Abhiyan Nepal seeks Free and Compulsory Basic Education (Upto Grade 8); Availability of Alternative Education (Skill Training); no one shall be denied to enter into school for study on any grounds; Education Budget Investment and Transparent, Accountable and Inclusive School Governance.

We call for: School, LGs, State and Federal Policies on Right to Education; Public Accountability of School and Local Education Committees
